Is it possible to get an EXPO film tomorrow?!!
Not really, because I’m not a time-traveling wizard. But if you have 4 days or more BEFORE the show…then yes, you have time to make a video for the show. Will I be judging you a teeny tiny bit for being disorganised? No, because I know how busy you are the rest of time, and anyway we’ll charge an expedited fee ;)
The next question is ‘How can I get a good video, fast!’
Your best bet is animation and not a bespoke, hand-drawn artisan Shoreditch jobby, but a clean, tight, potentially tongue in cheek, infographic animation like this one!
Lots of agencies can provide animated explainers quickly, and they should all work along a similar process as below. So here is the Gnu Films Guide to Last Minute Videos I-Forgot-We-Needed-Because-I-Was-Too-Worried-About-Brochures-But-Now-I’ve-Remembered-And-I’m-Really-Stressed.
1. Write out your key messages
But, no more than 5 main points or USPS otherwise your video will either be waaay to long, or so full of info that your audience can’t take anything in.
2. Keep the film short, no longer than a minute.
People want facts not your life story, even if it’s reeeeally cool and you fought a shark this one time.
3. Write a script
(we said script not The Hobbit Directors Cut, less than 150 words.) Remember to use more colloquial language than formal eg: ‘you’re’ not ‘you are’. It sounds better, trust me!
4. Choose Your Visuals
Try not to be too prescriptive with visuals but do send an example animation style you like!
5. Choose Your Voice Over Artist
Keep Voice Over choices to male or female and below or above 25, to open up artist availability and maximise production time.
6. Get Your Fonts and Graphics Ready
7. Storyboard Time?
It's unlikely there will be time for a storyboard so ask your agency to create a Visual Script; a written document that has both audio and visual on to give you an idea of the graphics, without being too literal.
8. Feedback, Feedback, Feedback
For the love of pizza, feedback straight away not in the middle of the night or 2 minutes before the show. Remember the all the p’s - Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Poor Performance (I used the clean version but you know what I mean, I know you do; )
Where to get event animation, fast?
I am not stupid enough to list other companies (gotta get up preeeeeeettty early in the morning to catch me out ;) but I will take the opportunity to tell you about Ugnoodle. This is our fast and efficient, no faffing-about animation service that creates brilliant animation with minimal input from your end. Just make your style selections from the online form, upload your script and we’ll do the rest!
How much does an animated explainer video like this cost? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention it’s not just fast and high-quality but also very cost effective. It starts at just £550 for 30 seconds!!!
