AKA: Show Reel/Speaker Reel/Demo Reel
Your showreel is a short promotional video showcasing all of your best bits, such as your services, offers and achievements. These videos are particularly useful for increasing brand awareness as it is a chance to show your audience the awesome work you do, in a very short amount of time. But remember, this is not the time to tell them everything about everything, just the hits and leave them wanting more! Take a look at ours here ; )
AKA: Brand Films/About The Team/Recruitment Films/Customer Experience Films
Culture videos are a great way to show your company personality, values and ethos! It helps to define your demographic and shape public perception. Like a digital natural selection it also helps potential clients and staff decide if you are for them, ultimately building stronger, long term relationships. Here’s one we made earlier.
Thought Leadership Video
AKA: Corporate Film/Flagship Film/Overview Film
Whether it’s for internal use, such as staff training, or external marketing, the aim of a corporate film is to educate audiences about your company, your practices and ultimately what stands you apart from the competition. It’s like a more thorough showreel with a mission statement. Usually housed on the ‘About Us’ page or even the ‘Front Page’ of your website it should give a birdseye view of where you sit in the industry, how you do what you do and why you are a credible option as a supplier. Check out this video we made for Sparx.
Paid Advertisement Video
AKA: Adverts/TV Adverts/Social Media Content/Pre-Rolls
We all know what a tv add is, and paid for ads and pre-rolls on sites like youtube are the same thing. It helps you to not only raise brand awareness but appeal to new audiences in a targeted way. It’s the same principle whether broadcast on TV or online, define your viewing demographic and their viewing habits, build an ad that appeals to that demographic and schedule it to be played within those parameters. Whether aimed at a new demographic to help you reach that new audience, or at your current audience to help it continue to grow, it’s a very accountable way to monitor audience engagement and its cheaper than you think! Check out our hand-drawn animation for My Family Vets.
AKA: Product Film/Instructional Film/Training Film/Internal Comms
Demo videos are a really useful way to show a new or existing product! It gives you the chance to walk your audience through the product and all of its new features and uses. Demo videos do not at all need to consist of your product slowly rotating on a pedestal like an overcooked rotisserie chicken while a presenter talks us through the features; it can be vibrant, pacey, engaging and exciting – because your audience should be as excited about it as you are!! Demo videos don’t have to be for physical products either, why not use a demo video for a new service just like this one we made for BIC!
Educational & Explainer Video
AKA: Educational Film/Service Film/Product Film/Internal Comms/External Comms
It does what it says on the tin. Take a complex idea and make it simple- explain how something works, how to use it, where to use it and ultimately how it’s beneficial. A good example is our NHS Live Life Live Well film; quick, fun, memorable - job done!
AKA: Value Film/Mission Statement Film/charity Film/Celebration Film
An emotional film should focus more on your mission and values rather than your product or service; it should tell a story and have a deeper, more emotional connection to your audience, whilst showcasing the product/service at the same time. Here’s a great example - Hopping Hare Hotel; it keeps the attention on the story whilst the viewing absorbs the ambience and facilities as a secondary message. The core message here is – we’ll make you feel warm and fuzzy!
Brand Awareness Video
AKA: Brand Film/Brand Content/Awareness Film/Celebration Film
A brand awareness video is great for a business of any size and at any stage of growth. Engage new and current audiences by celebrating your past achievements, or focussing on your future ambitions all whilst pushing branded content. Tell the world all the brilliance you’ve achieved! AKA: Campaign Films/Project Films/Teaser Clips/Behind the Scenes Video

Whether it’s a sneak peak of the project to generate excitement or a look back at a job well done, draw back the curtain to see behind the scenes. It’s a chance to show the passion of the team and the company. Take a peek at the INTU Fashion Behind the Scenes film!
